Contemporary philosophers and art theorists are actively discussing the creative output of neural networks and artificial intelligence, from rethinking authorship and the creative process, calling AI a co-author, to debates about the authentic…
Most philosophers agree that AI is merely a tool and one of the extensions of the human mind, and art historians, curators and artists are not standing aside from these reflections either. One answer is the exhibition "Humans and Neural Networks: Who Creates Whom?", which opened this week at the Tretyakov Gallery on Krymsky Val.
The exhibition invites viewers, too, to join the discussion. It presents works created through the joint efforts of contemporary artists, Yandex developers and neural networks. The halls of the Tretyakov now hold jacquard canvases made with AI, experiments with sound, unexpected bodily practices and bold interpretations of classical art.
It is a fine thing that admission to the exhibition has been made free, which means that a topical subject of great interest gains a further opportunity to reflect on the place of artificial intelligence in the art of our time, this time together with specialists from both the country's leading museum and one of the leaders of the digital industry. A time slot for a visit can be booked on the websites of Yandex Afisha and the Tretyakov Gallery. More details are on the project's official website
