New look for the rooster as the decor is recreated after the original was lost in a fire

It is disconcerting that the new symbol of Notre-Dame de Paris differs so greatly from the original figure made by the French sculptor Victor Geoffroy-Dechaume, author of the statues of the twelve apostles at the foot of the spire.

And yet one may see a certain logic in this. After all, the genuine cockerel was lost in the fire, and any sculpture put in its place would be merely a newly made replica. So if a new cockerel is to be made, it may as well be given a new appearance, especially considering that the remaining decorative details are being recreated with historical accuracy
