An unreal church in Luxembourg. I drove past this hairpin road last year, when Auntie Nina and I went to the market for meat (Luxembourg is considerably cheaper than Belgium), and I even thought, surely a cross cannot be sticking straight out of the roadside, I must have imagined it. And here it turns out to be: a tiny little church in the rock. This year I shall certainly stop by and take some photographs. It is called the Chapel of Saint Quirinus and stands in the gorge of the Pétrusse river. The place was probably a site of pilgrimage as early as Roman times; the main building dates from the 14th century, the tower from the 19th. Many believe that the water from the spring beneath the chapel is miraculous and cures diseases of the eye.
