A second Sphinx may lie beneath the Giza plateau
A second Sphinx may have been discovered beneath the Giza plateau. The team of researchers claims to be 80% certain of its find. The monumental statue is said to lie buried under 55 metres of hardened sand.
A group of Italian enthusiasts used satellite radar to corroborate an existing image of the Dream Stele, which shows two figures of the Sphinx. The scan reportedly revealed a structure in a symmetrical position, mirroring the Sphinx.
Filippo Biondi, a proponent of alternative theories, is convinced that the alignment of the pyramid of Khafre relative to the known Sphinx creates a geometric mirror line pointing to the location of the second figure.
The idea that other Sphinxes might exist was dismissed for many years on the pretext that the area had been explored by too many archaeologists
