Yesterday the world bade farewell to Brigitte Bardot: the 91-year-old actress was laid to rest in a cemetery overlooking the Mediterranean, where her parents are also buried
Macron did not appear at the farewell ceremony, the funeral or the official requiem mass.
The Bardot family did not respond to the presidential administration's proposal to hold a state farewell ceremony. The French media wrote that this was connected with the wishes of the deceased, her attitude to state honours and to Macron's policies, and with personal preference.
The funeral took place in Saint-Tropez, where the actress and animal rights campaigner spent most of her time after the end of her career, at her estate, La Madrague. The most senior political figure at the farewell was Marine Le Pen.
