A new contemporary art fair, Catalog, has opened in the Sytin printing house on Pyatnitskaya Street. The fair is organised by the Association of Galleries and may be regarded as normative: laid out in a single line, clearly arranged, with all the galleries on an equal footing, to the point that the places for the stands were allotted by lot. I liked that there is no commercial mood about it: it really is a story about artists and about art. All the participants are galleries from the Association, which lends the event a certain institutional gravity. The prices are pleasant, and some very substantial works came as a surprise, for instance on the stand of HSE Art Gallery, with a modest price tag of only 12 to 60 thousand. There are many bright, valuable, interesting works. For myself I singled out the stands of the galleries of Polina Askeri, Triumph, Fineart, Astra, Popoff, HSE, Nakovalnya and Pennlab. I picked out no fewer than 30 works for myself. I recommend everyone to visit: this really is something new in our art world
