Benedict XVI on facing the judge of his life and the grace of being a Christian
In his penitential letter addressed to the faithful, Benedict XVI shares his reflections on death:.
"Soon I shall find myself before the final judge of my life. Even if, looking back on my long life, I may have many fears, I nonetheless await it with a glad heart, because I firmly believe that the Lord is not only a faithful judge, but at the same time a friend and brother, who himself suffered for my shortcomings and who is therefore, as judge, at the same time my advocate. In the face of the hour of judgement, the grace of being a Christian becomes clear to me. Being a Christian gives me knowledge, and more than that, friendship with the judge of my life, and allows me to pass confidently through the dark door of death."
