The Second Part of the "Belyayevo — Izmaylovo" Exhibition Project Opens at Q-ART Gallery
The second part of the exhibition project "Belyayevo — Izmaylovo. Nonconformism from the Q-ART Collection", entitled "Green Light for the Underground", has opened at Q-ART Gallery. It is dedicated to the fiftieth anniversary of the exhibition of nonconformist artists in Izmaylovo Park, held two weeks after the Bulldozer Exhibition. Together, these exhibitions gave a powerful impetus to the further vigorous exhibition activity of "unofficial" artists in the USSR.
The display will include works by participants in the Izmaylovo exhibition: Alexandr Yulikov, Lidia Masterkova, Yevgeny Rukhin, Rimma Zanevskaya, Nikita Alekseyev, Igor Kislitsyn and a number of other artists. Particular attention will be paid to rare paintings that were shown at Izmaylovo itself and are now presented as part of Q-ART Gallery's anniversary retrospective. In all, the project brings together some fifty works, most of them shown to the general public for the first time.
Besides the artists who joined the Izmaylovo exhibition, the display will also include works by other landmark masters of the Soviet underground, of various tendencies, from the gallery's collection: Viktor Pivovarov, Vasily Sitnikov, Oleg Tselkov, Pyotr Belenok, Dmitry Krasnopevtsev, Vladimir Yakovlev, Eduard Steinberg, Igor Vulokh, Francisco Infante and others.
