The Academy of Arts Museum in Saint Petersburg opens the exhibition "Repin. Details"

The Academy of Arts Museum in Saint Petersburg has opened the exhibition "Repin. Details." The project marks the 180th anniversary of the birth of Ilya Repin and is devoted to the world of objects in the paintings of the great Russian artist, to his approach to work, and to the attribution of Repin's paintings.

Research into Ilya Repin's work shows that he prepared meticulously for the painting of his pictures and gathered materials for his characters in person. The things that surrounded the master and inspired him help viewers learn more about the world of objects in his paintings and appreciate their details afresh.

For the first time, the exhibition brings together decorative and applied art, costumes and household items from Repin's house-museum Penaty, as well as paintings by the master from the collections of the Academy of Arts Museum, the Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum, the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts and other museums.

The exhibition is open until 29 March 2025.
