Women’s monastic cap of the 1910s trimmed with silk threads at the Vladimir-Suzdal Museum
In the exhibition of the Bishop's Chambers at the Vladimir-Suzdal Museum-Reserve, one can see a women's monastic conical hat of the 1910s, made of dark blue velvet and cotton fabric. This article employs an interesting device that contemporary couturiers would do well to note: to trim the cap around its perimeter, the convent seamstresses of the early last century used clipped silk threads in place of fur, which, it must be said, are scarcely distinguishable in appearance from the real thing.
