Venice to increase the number of paid city visit days from 30 to 54

In 2025 Venice will raise its day-tripper tax to €10.

The original charge of €5 was introduced to curb the flow of tourists. According to the city authorities, however, the measure failed to achieve its aim, and thanks to the Venice Biennale the number of visitors has actually grown. Venice, whose population is estimated at 50,000, draws some 40,000 tourists every day.

Next year the number of days on which a fee is charged for entering the city will rise from 30 to 54: weekends, public holidays and the periods of peak pressure from 18 April to the end of July will be included. The restrictions do not apply to residents of Venice and the Veneto region, students and workers, Artguide reports.
