At Kutuzov's tomb in the Kazan Cathedral in Saint Petersburg hang the keys to fortresses and cities liberated by the Russian army in the war of 1812. In the left niche are the keys to Geertruidenberg, Bremen and Avesnes. In the right are those of Lübeck, Mons and Nancy. In all, the cathedral once held 97 keys to European fortresses, but most were sent to Moscow for a museum being created for the centenary of the Patriotic War, which was never opened, and all the transferred artefacts passed to the Historical Museum
