The Art Newspaper has run a piece on a grand exhibition by the well-known Moscow collector Max Boxer, which opens on 19 March and will transform the IN ARTIBUS foundation's space into a flat filled with genuine belongings and interiors of the Boxer family. I gather that Max's mother is already complaining about the plundering of her flat. Visitors will see not only the classics, the likes of Goncharova and Somov, but also specimens from rare collections, such as eighteenth-century Russian glass, as well as contemporary art, missing pieces of the collection, objects of Maxim's desire and even a model of his unique country house. During the exhibition Max promises to hold a school for collectors, and, to be honest, I already want to enrol. In the meantime, do read the very informative interview, in which the enigmatic personality of Maxim Boxer is, if only a little, made to open up, and watch this space for a report from the opening.
