Apparently, the platform from which Lenin's funeral train departed in 1924 is being sold for half a billion roubles.

A railway station has been put up for sale on Avito. Leninskaya (Gerasimovo) platform on the Paveletsky line of the Moscow Railway, in the Domodedovo urban district of Moscow Oblast, is listed under the working title "railway station of 1954, Stalinist Empire style".

Opened on 5 November 1954, the station is regarded as an architectural landmark and is easily seen on the road to Domodedovo. The three-tier building, 37 metres high, is crowned with a 15-metre spire bearing a five-pointed star of golden glass.

The station has a unique history: until recently, a hundred metres from this building there stood (until it burned to the ground) a wooden memorial building, from which Lenin's funeral train had indeed departed, whereupon the station, built in 1898, was renamed from Gerasimovo to Leninskaya.

The little Empire-style station with its 24 encircling columns, kept as a memorial to Lenin's death, has long stood neglected and has been falling rapidly into decay, and now, it seems, someone especially enterprising has bought it up.
