An empty desk in the director's study of the A.S. Griboyedov Khmelita State Historical, Cultural and Natural Museum-Reserve

An empty desk in the director's study of the A.S. Griboyedov "Khmelita" State Historical, Cultural and Natural Museum-Reserve, at which Viktor Kulakov worked. Today Viktor Evgenyevich Kulakov passed away.

He was a unique man who will remain in our memory and in the history of Russian culture as the one who saved the Griboyedovs' Baroque palace from ruin, as a popularizer of Russian history, an enthusiast of historical architecture, a restorer and a great professional in his field.

I want to offer words of support to Viktor Evgenyevich's family. Not only our culture has suffered an irreplaceable loss today, but all who knew this kindest, most talented and erudite of men. I shall remember Viktor Evgenyevich as a man of boundless creative energy, a witty interlocutor and an outstanding museum man. A pupil and follower of the celebrated Baranovsky, Viktor Evgenyevich was a true devotee, who gave decades of his life and labour to creating the Griboyedov museum and reviving the spirit of the Russian country estate.

Eternal memory. Condolences to the family
