I suggest a visit to the exhibition marking the centenary of the Republic of Tatarstan, "Masterpieces from Kazan. From Roerich to Kandinsky", at the Tretyakov Gallery on Krymsky Val, which runs until 1 November and presents works by artists of the Silver Age and the Russian avant-garde from the collection of the State Museum of Fine Arts of Tatarstan. Just the thing as a sequel to our recent journey around Kazan. The first room shows works by Symbolist and Impressionist painters, as well as by members of the artistic associations World of Art (Mir iskusstva), Blue Rose (Golubaya roza) and the Union of Russian Artists. The second room holds paintings by the largest association of the early avant-garde, the Jack of Diamonds (Bubnovy valet).
