The last week, until 25 May, of the exhibition "Love in the Avant-Garde" at the Zotov Centre

The exhibition "Love in the Avant-Garde. Mikhail Matyushin and Elena Guro" runs at the Zotov Centre for its last week, until 25 May. It is devoted to two rarely mentioned figures of the Russian avant-garde and to their influence on one another, in their work and in their lives. The display includes paintings, sculpture and graphic works, audio recordings of Matyushin's music and Guro's poetry read by actors, as well as manuscripts, photographs and printed books.

Mikhail Matyushin and Elena Guro occupy a special place among the avant-gardists. They experimented with the synthesis of the arts and influenced many of their contemporaries. Their work largely reflects the key tendencies of Russian art in the first third of the twentieth century.

The exhibition presents drawings and watercolours from archives that have never been shown before, and rare works from museum collections, some of which have been re-attributed. Visitors can also hear Matyushin's musical compositions, restored from manuscripts.
