The horse became a full participant in the funeral cortège and walked behind its master's coffin together with the leaders of the Soviet state: Stalin, Zinoviev, Kamenev and Rykov.
Mikhail Frunze, People's Commissar for Military and Naval Affairs of the USSR, was known for his love of horses and his anxiety over the fate of horse breeding in the country, and is considered the first of the Soviet nomenklatura to take military parades on horseback
