The other day I attended the premiere of Ksenia Zueva's film "Intervention" with Anna Chipovskaya, who plays a girl in difficult life circumstances. It was most unusual to see Anna in a new guise, at least to my eye: that of an ordinary girl from our yard, your yard, or any yard in the great post-Soviet world. Bruises, sickly thinness, a robust turn of phrase and a profession of no great elevation: the heroine is quite literally on the brink of life and death, on the flimsy line between social respectability and the social depths, yet she finds the strength to love and learns to breathe differently. Only the rocks of the sea of everyday life prove to be too near. The film, which took several years to make, is rather hard to take in. I want to write about Chipovskaya in it because hardly anyone imagines her in such a role, so vivid and truly earthly, if you will. Moreover, the appearance of the picture and its palette make one involuntarily reflect on the sudden change of scenery in our reality within some two or three years. I hope it is not irreversible. And love remains the eternal theme
