My Highlights from the Opening of Blazar
1. Arina Shabanova caught my eye: she has created her own magical world, in a palette of her own and with highly individual characters.
2. I liked the sweet, simple watercolours of Anna Antonova. Just look at what a charming Warm Granite she has.
3. Congratulations on the Deep List project to Ira Shulzhenko and Dasha Yartseva; they are showing some very pleasing paintings by Sasha Beteyeva.
4. I noted two works by Slava Nesterov at once: the capybaras who play the role of capybaras, and the snack spider. Incidentally, on the same Syntax stand there is a print series well worth seeing: a rethinking of the family photo album by Andrey Anro.
5. At the «Tikhaya» stand another project drew my attention, a photographic rethinking by Alexey Starkov.
6. At «Alisa» I took a fancy to the graphic works of Anton Gudkov and the casket by Andrey Dmitrenko.
7. I liked the paintings based on photographs by Darya Kalugina.
8. At Fabula there are gripping works by Stasya Grishina devoted to dogs, or rather to the way people treat these animals as a commodity. The composition in the photo is called “Experience Is Sad”.
9. Some more interesting dogs were to be found with Maxim Burlakov, who unearths some provincial snaps of two school classes in the depths of the domestic social networks and gives them a second life.
Naturally, in a single evening, especially amid such a crush, it is hard to examine everything properly. So the list is neither complete nor final.
