Leib Cossack Timofey Yashchik, escort of Maria Feodorovna from 1914, and his memoirs
Life Cossack Timofey Xenofontovich Yashchik escorted Maria Feodorovna by appointment of Nicholas II from 1914 until the last day of her life. He remained at her side after the Emperor's abdication, and after the death of the imperial family.
It was Yashchik who was one of the men who organised the Dowager Empress's departure for England, to which he travelled with her, and then to Denmark, where he stayed on to live after Maria Feodorovna's death. He married and opened a little shop.
Timofey Yashchik is the hero of numerous publications on the life of the imperial entourage, but also the author of memoirs published in both Denmark and Russia.
Today I ordered the book by this colourful character of the tsarist drama, entitled "Beside the Empress. Memoirs of a Life Cossack". Once I have read it, I shall share my impressions.
