On 1 April 1976 Wayne drew up the partnership agreement for the Apple Computer Company, typing it out on his own IBM typewriter. He received a 10 per cent stake in the start-up, but the trio did not last long: twelve days later, fearing financial liability, Wayne withdrew from the agreement. In recent years, items associated with Apple have fetched impressive sums for auction houses. In 2022 a pair of Steve Jobs’s brown suede Birkenstocks sold for 218,750 dollars; in 2023 an unopened first-generation iPhone went for 63,000 dollars, and a Jobs business card of 1983 sold for 181,000 dollars
