Christie's in full swing preparing the sale of Hubert de Givenchy's impressive collection, estimated at 50 million euros
Christie's is in full swing preparing the sale of the impressive collection of the couturier Hubert de Givenchy, estimated at 50 million euros. The exhibition is being held in two Parisian salons connected with Givenchy's life and on the premises of Christie's. The auction will take place at the Théâtre Marigny. Already the coming sale is being called one of the largest in history: little wonder, for it is the last untouched collection of such scale and significance in the world. More than 1,200 lots will go under the hammer, from bronzes by Giacometti, works by Lalanne, Pablo Picasso and Joan Miró to polychrome busts of Claude I and Alexander the Great and a magnificent gilded Boulle commode, not shown to the public since 1994. The sale will be divided into several segments and will run from 14 to 18 June and from 8 to 23 June.
