King Frederik X Alters the Arms of the Kingdom of Denmark in Response to Trump's Remarks about Buying Greenland
The arms of the Faroe Islands, a silver ram, and of Greenland, a silver polar bear, both of which had shared a single field since 1819, now occupy fields of their own. To make room, the three crowned azure lions with hearts had to go, symbolising as they did the long-obsolete union of Denmark, Norway and Sweden.
One can only hope that the American reply will likewise remain within the bounds of heraldry.
