Some good news: a remarkable medieval crucifix of copper alloy, the work of Limoges craftsmen, has returned to York, where it was long kept at St Mary's Abbey, now no more. The Yorkshire Museum acquired the figurine at auction for 8,500 euros. For more than a hundred years the unique Christ had been in a private collection in Germany, where it ended up after a hundred years of oblivion and disappearance from York.
The figure, dating from the 13th century, is considered a superb example of medieval art
