The artist Vladimir Seleznev, in the company of the curator Vladislav Efimov, talks about his project "Oseyev", devoted to an invented utopian metropolis, the result of uncontrolled standardised building on urban land, which proved to be unwanted and fell into decline. Seleznev problematises the frenzied mass construction in Moscow and on the territories around the MKAD, as if asking the question of the demand for its countless residential square metres, a question that, I think, occurs to many of us every now and then. Vladimir Seleznev's photographs show a woeful landscape of half-empty new-build blocks amid the depressive scenery of wrecked cars and assorted gullies and wastelands, all of which is nonetheless presented as a developer's offer, only whom might it interest, and on what terms?
