Catherine Deneuve and her elder sister Françoise Dorléac on the Place Vendôme, 1965. Françoise Dorléac appeared alongside Deneuve in Jacques Demy's musical The Young Girls of Rochefort and in the film Where the Spies Are. Françoise was 18 months older than Catherine.

Françoise Dorléac was a very well-known actress of her day, much loved by audiences and directors alike. A celebrated beauty, she was at the height of her career when her life was cut short.

Françoise died in a car accident: she lost control of the car on the way to the airport and, unable to get out of the vehicle, burned to death. She was 25 years old.
