Tariffs and moving film production to the US as the industry falls 40% in two years
Katya, I do wonder how exactly he intends to make California great again.
After all, even the American studios have in recent years been striving to move production beyond the borders of the United States because of the exorbitant cost. It turns out that even Britain is cheaper than California, to say nothing of Europe, still less Southern and Eastern Europe.
Can he really not understand that tariffs will do nothing to halt the decline in film production, and a fall of 40% in two years is very serious indeed? It is one thing to demand that the loathsome ideological quotas be abandoned, quite another to demand that production be brought back to the States. I fear that after such decisions the level of unemployment in the sector will rise well above the existing 12%. I do not fear it, of course, it is merely a manner of speaking; by now, I dare say, we have all grown used to the fact that neither Disney nor Netflix has made anything sensible for ages.
Perhaps it is simply the dinosaurs' time to die out? As after that meteorite, only the smallest and nimblest will be left, along with those that dwell in the depths of the world's oceans.
