Isaac Israilevich Brodsky (1883-1939) was one of the foremost, most acclaimed and most fame-showered creators of paintings about the life of Lenin and of canvases on the history of the Party. To his brush belong such monumental works as “Lenin Addressing the Workers of the Putilov Factory Rally in May 1917” (1929), “Lenin in the Smolny” (1930), “The Execution of the 26 Baku Commissars” (1925), “At the Bier of Ilyich” (1925), and “The Ceremonial Opening of the Second Congress of the Comintern in the Uritsky Palace in Leningrad” (1920-1924), which won high praise from Repin but was for many years hidden from the people's eyes, since with the passage of time ever more enemies of the people kept appearing on the canvas beside the leader.
