Dostoevsky on revolution in Russia, atheism and the destruction of churches
The International has ordained that the European revolution shall begin in Russia. And begin it will... For we have no reliable defence against it, either in the government or in society. The revolt will begin with atheism and the plundering of all wealth. They will start by deposing religion, demolishing churches and turning them into barracks and stables, they will flood the world with blood, and then take fright at their own work... *** they will ruin Russia and place themselves at the head of anarchy. ... One foresees a terrible, colossal, elemental revolution, which will shake all the kingdoms of the world and alter the very face of this world. But it will require a hundred million heads. The whole world will be awash with rivers of blood.
