The Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkin House) of the Russian Academy of Sciences announces the long-awaited acquisition of Vladimir Nabokov's Swiss archive, after three years of preparatory work and colossal logistics
The archive amounts to as many as 300 boxes of documents, manuscripts and texts. To be precise, according to the management of the Literary Museum of the Institute of Russian Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences, it comprises: memorial objects; a collection of manuscripts and documents; audio, photo and video materials of Nabokov himself and his family; fine and decorative-applied art; Nabokov's library and author's copies of editions of his works.
In the autumn Pushkin House will hold an open international Academic Council and a presentation of the archive's materials, and a Nabokov study or centre will be established at the institute. The decision to transfer the archive to Russia was taken by the Nabokov Foundation and the International Vladimir Nabokov Society.
