Graffiti on Paris buildings, the cost of removing it and the question of fines
Graffiti in Paris has climbed far above the ground floors, and it is becoming a real calamity. All the more so given what it costs to paint it over or wash it off. And it spoils the view considerably. But perhaps, if one were to fine people for daubing residential buildings, even by some reasonably weighty sum, the phenomenon could be reined in? The feeling is rather like ours in the 1990s, remember? Some incomprehensible integrations of rubbish into the urban space, general squalor, a growing concentration of criminal elements, filth in the stairwells: we have been through all of this already and, fortunately, come out the other side. I hope they will manage here too
