Elena Kirby, Countess of Dvina, holding her great-nephew Prince Alexander Romanov, with Georgy Mikhailovich Romanov beside her
The Countess of Dvina is the elder half-sister of Maria Vladimirovna Romanova. Elena Kirby was born in 1935, of the first marriage of Leonida Georgievna Bagration-Mukhransky to the American millionaire Sumner Moore Kirby. The title of Countess of Dvina was bestowed on Elena by her mother's second husband, Vladimir Kirillovich Romanov.
Elena Kirby remained childless. Her fortune, inherited from her father, is believed to be one of the main sources of support for the Imperial House of Romanov today.
