Eduard Steinberg, Vasily Chekrygin, Rembrandt and Goya: the Pushkin Museum Opens an Exhibition Uniting Four Names from Different Eras

Eduard Steinberg, Vasily Chekrygin, Rembrandt and Goya: the Pushkin Museum has opened an exhibition uniting these four names from different eras. The finitude of being, the contradictions of worldly foundations and the attainment of eternity are seen through the prism of Rembrandt's sublime etchings and Francisco Goya's dark meditations, and through the terrible scenes of the multi-figure compositions of Chekrygin, who lived only 25 years and witnessed the end of the empire. The exhibition is timed to the 85th birthday of the avant-garde artist Eduard Arkadyevich Steinberg, whose works occupy two halls of the display.

To be honest, I failed to grasp the connection or the curatorial idea behind gathering all this under one banner, but then again I wasn't looking for it: I simply took the opportunity to go to a museum and look at pictures.
