The two-seater carriage of Alexander II, in which the Emperor was travelling at the time of the attempt on his life on 1 (13) March 1881. In the course of this attempt Alexander II was wounded and died.
As can be seen, the bomb severely damaged the body of the carriage.
The carriage, of the brougham type, was made in the workshop of Breitigam in 1879; it could be drawn
by a single horse and was used for the Emperor's outings on gala days and holidays.
The carriage proved an unlucky one: over its history this vehicle twice met with a bomb, the second time during a bombing raid in the years of the Great Patriotic War.
