Snegirev House on Plyushchikha Hidden Under a Canopy
Snegirev House on Plyushchikha has been hidden under a canopy. In the neglected residence of Professor Vladimir Fyodorovich Snegirev, the founder of Russian gynaecology, repair work has been under way for several years now, though I am not sure it can be called restoration. Built in the Romantic style in 1893-94, the house stood uninhabited for a long time in our own day, in some strange proprietary limbo, until it was finally sold into private hands. Something of a developer's and commercial nature is evidently going on here. One can only hope that the house's original appearance, with its sharp gabled roofs and turrets, so rare in old Moscow, will survive into the future.
