Until 11 January 2021 the “Slovo” Centre at VDNKh in Moscow is hosting the exhibition “Dots over Ё”, devoted to the history of one of the most controversial letters of the Russian alphabet. The exhibition offers a kind of retrospective of letter usage from the 13th century to the present day: old grammar books, extracts from classical literature and the press, printed matter of various eras, epistolary legacy. Whether or not you use the letter ё when writing and printing, the project invites you to consider the link between the linguistic norms governing its use and historical events, and to decide for yourself the question: with the dots, or without?
