The Children and the Young Raven

The children found an injured young raven in the forest and nursed it back to health. It became quite tame and lived in the geologists' camp until the middle of summer. Shortly before the camp was due to move from the Arkhangelsk Region to Komi, as if sensing the approaching parting, it flew off into the forest.

So recounts the photographer, Pavel Sukharev.

The photograph was taken on a geological expedition of the Fedorovsky All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Mineral Resources in the Arkhangelsk Region in the summer of 1982.
