Pope Francis opens senior Church posts to women in new constitution Praedicate Evangelium
The Desacralisation of Church Institutions and Pope Francis: on Saturday 19 March Pope Francis Allowed Any Baptised Lay Catholic, Even a Woman, to Head Departments in the Vatican Administration.
For centuries these posts could be held only by high-ranking clergymen, men naturally. It turned out that this could be changed with a single stroke of a Peronist fountain pen.
For the time being, women will be barred only from the episcopal see and the see of the clergy, since priests in the Catholic Church can, after all, only be men.
The new provision is enshrined in Pope Francis's new apostolic constitution Praedicate Evangelium, which, by all appearances, he spent all nine years of his pontificate preparing and which comes into force on 5 June. The new constitution repeals the previous one, issued by John Paul II.
News from the Vatican in 2022 increasingly prompts one to turn to the Prophecy of Malachy on the approaching end of the papacy and on Francis being the last vicar of Peter on earth.
