Four heirs to the British crown at their joint 21st birthday party at Windsor Castle in 1985
The year 1964 is remembered by the English for a royal baby boom, when four royal heirs arrived within the space of a few months. That year the Queen herself was delivered of a child, as were her sister Princess Margaret, her cousin Princess Alexandra of Kent and her cousin Katharine, Duchess of Kent.
Into the world came: on 29 February, James Ogilvy, the only son of Sir Angus and Princess Alexandra; on 10 March, Edward, Earl of Wessex, the last child of Elizabeth II; on 28 April, the only daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Kent, Helen, now Lady Helen Taylor; and on 1 May, Sarah, the second child of Princess Margaret, now known as Lady Sarah Chatto, a professional artist.
