Buckingham Palace announces that Elizabeth II will not attend Trooping the Colour on 2 June

Buckingham Palace has announced that Elizabeth II will not attend Trooping the Colour on 2 June. For the first time in 70 years, the Queen will not take the salute from the colour-bearers on this day. God grant her health; let us hope that, instead of working, she will once again go off to make merry with her girlfriends.

Besides the ceremony of Trooping the Colour, traditional since the seventeenth century, a parade is due to take place in central London on 2 June, with fifteen hundred servicemen and hundreds of musicians taking part as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
