British scientists calculate that Wales occupies zero area on the flag of the United Kingdom

British scientists have done the sums. The area of the flag of Great Britain that symbolically represents Wales is equal to zero. This could be remedied by the green stripe or the dragon from the Welsh flag, or by the yellow cross of St David, the patron saint of Wales, but that is hard to imagine.

I do not know whether the insult can be made up for by the fact that the heir to the crown bears the title of Prince of Wales. On the other hand, as a conquered territory Wales could be marked with a mere asterisk, a device the Americans use to good effect.
