Three hundred crocodile mummies found near the Kom Ombo temple in Aswan province

Beauty and spa treatments may turn you into a goddess, but there is no guarantee that it will not be the deity Sobek, who appears in the guise of a crocodile. The proof: specimens from among the three hundred crocodile mummies discovered in the vicinity of the temple of Kom Ombo in Aswan Governorate, upon which the finest specialists of their day in the preservation of beauty had worked. The ancient temple was rebuilt in the time of the Ptolemaic dynasty between 180 and 47 BC, though it was originally created much earlier and is dedicated to Sobek, god of water and of the Nile, in the form of a crocodile. These mummies are now on display in the Crocodile Museum in Egypt.
