Madly glad was I to see the dearest Francisco Infante and Nonna Goryunova in good health today. Charming people, artists who outran their time, and such old-world good souls. It was said that only friends would attend the opening of the legendary pair's new exhibition at the Alina Pinsky Gallery, yet already at the cloakroom there was no pushing through, and much of the crowd was very young. The works are excellent, in the authentic Infante spirit. I tried comparing them with Infante's photographs of the 1980s, which I am proud to have in my collection: one can make out his former original view of space and the point of light, yet in 2021 he shows something quite different, as though a young contemporary artist had made it. At the entrance they put on a presentation of the backstage, and in one photograph, for instance, the maestro demonstrates how a little mosquito sat on his finger.
