Well, I hardly need explain what it was in the story of a feeling rekindled between two elderly former lovers that touched Camilla. The novel is already more than 35 years old, yet one question still gives me no peace: who, exactly, has wit enough to feign an outbreak of cholera, so as to spare himself the attentions of the border authorities and keep on loosening up his sciatica in a cabin for that much longer? It is most highly immoral and poses a grave danger to the public; love hardly comes into it
