New Zealand was the first country in the world where women won the right to vote, in 1893.

In Europe, the first country where women gained the right to vote and to sit in parliament, in 1906, was Finland, then part of the Russian Empire.

Russia introduced full suffrage for women in 1917, after the February Revolution.

In the USA women gained the vote at federal level in 1920, in Switzerland only in 1971, in Kuwait in 2005, and in Saudi Arabia in 2015.
