The Art Newspaper Russia Awards for 2024 Presented

The Art Newspaper Russia Awards for 2024 have been presented. The annual ceremony took place in the hall of the Pushkin Theatre, and I congratulate the whole team, the editorial board of the newspaper and, personally, Milena Orlova and Tatiana Sakhokia on this important event in Russian culture.

The winners in brief

Museum of the Year. The most conspicuous museum: the Tretyakov Gallery in Samara, Fabrika-Kukhnya. “For a modern museum created by a team for whom the global and the local matter equally.”

Exhibition of the Year. The exhibition that won the recognition of professionals and public alike. “Ars vivendi. Frans Snyders and Flemish Still Life of the 17th Century”, the State Hermitage Museum. “For a vivid spectacle and bold imagination, which turned an academic exhibition into a captivating performance.”

Book of the Year. A book of any genre and format on the visual arts that became an event of the year. “Work and Live. The Architecture of Constructivism. 1917-1937.” For its immersion in the image of those who, after the Revolution, built a new world, a new way of life, a new family and new leisure, and for revealing unexpected facets of Constructivism.

Restoration of the Year. For a contribution to the theory and practice of restoration. The Dormition Cathedral on Gorodok, 14th century, Zvenigorod. For the restoration of vital details and the return of the authentic appearance of a unique monument of Old Russian literature.

Personal Contribution. For a contribution to the development of the artistic process and the art market. Vasily Bychkov, founder of Art Moscow, Arch Moscow and the company Expo-Park Exhibition Projects, and for many years director of the Central House of Artists.
