Yesterday I witnessed a flagrant incident: a society lady, moreover one connected with the museum community, twice knocked down barriers in a house museum, pushing her way into a roped-off dining room to photograph the furniture at closer range, and after brazenly walking into the area cordoned off from visitors and toppling the barriers, she then scolded a member of the museum staff: "Why don't you warn people that there's a little fence here? I could have broken my leg, you know." The modest guide even began to justify herself: well, you see, there is a barrier here, forgive us, we have to protect the exhibits from visitors. And this after the same lady, on another floor, had simply stepped over the barrier and climbed right inside an unglazed display case with an exhibition. What do you think: is this quite normal, or is everything permitted to the wealthy?
