A UNESCO World Heritage Centre mission has arrived in Saint Petersburg to inspect one of the largest sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List, the “Historic Centre of Saint Petersburg”. The previous visit of this kind took place in 2018.
In Saint Petersburg a single site is under UNESCO protection: the “Historic Centre of Saint Petersburg and Related Groups of Monuments”, inscribed on the List in 1990. It comprises the historic quarters, the principal architectural ensembles (Palace Square, Nevsky Prospect, the Peter and Paul Fortress), as well as the suburbs: Peterhof, Pushkin (Tsarskoye Selo), Pavlovsk, Gatchina, Strelna and Kronstadt
