Restoration of the grand antechamber completed at Saint Petersburg's House of Radio
At Saint Petersburg's House of Radio, the restoration of the grand antechamber has been completed. The method chosen here is rather unusual: not a return to a single era, but a combination of different historical layers: pre-revolutionary, Soviet, perestroika-era and contemporary. Coffered ceilings, Pompeian-style murals, paired columns and carved balusters have been restored alongside bas-reliefs of Lenin and Marx and Soviet light fittings.
During the Siege, Leningrad radio went out on air from this building; it now houses a multifunctional space of the musicAeterna project.
